Promotions help to catch the attention of customers and convince them to buy from your store by offering attractive deals. You can choose from various offer types and target different customers to convert views and considerations into orders.

How to create a promotion

​​Go to the GrabMerchant app > Marketing tile > Create tab > Select Create your own campaign > Pick an audience objective > Tap on the type of promotion you want to run.

Restaurants that run promotions will automatically receive a promo tag and be featured in the Deals Around You highlights in GrabFood, one of the best performing carousels on our homepage featuring merchants running promotions within delivery radius.

Here are the types of promotions available and how to create them:

Whole Order Discount\n

Boost sales by offering a discount when a customer’s order reaches a minimum value.

Example: “Get 10% off on orders above $20!”

\n

To set up this promotion:

\n
  1. Tap Whole Order Discount.
  2. Select Percentage or Fixed Amount Discount.
  3. Enter the discount value and indicate the maximum discount amount and minimum order value and tap Next.
  4. On the Set Conditions page, you can schedule the duration of your promotion. Enter the start date and end date (optional). If the end date is not specified, the promotion will run for 180 days. 
  5. Your customer criteria is pre-filled based on the previous selected objective. 
  6. On Redemption limit, you can restrict your customers from the number of times they can use the promotion.
  7. Tap Review promotion to display a draft of your promotion. 
  8. To complete your promotion settings, tap Create Promotion. 
Delivery Fee Discount

Boost sales by reducing the delivery fee when a customer’s order reaches a minimum value.

Example: “Get $5 off for a minimum order of $15!”

To set up this promotion:

  1. Tap Delivery Fee Discount.
  2. On Maximum discount, you can set the maximum delivery fee you want to pay for your customer and the minimum order required to avail this promotion. Tap Next to continue.
  3. On the Set Conditions page, you can schedule the duration of your promotion. Enter the start date and end date (optional). If the end date is not specified, the promotion will run for 180 days. 
  4. Your customer criteria is pre-filled based on the previous selected objective. 
  5. On Redemption limit, you can restrict your customers from the number of times they can use the promotion.
  6. Tap Review promotion to display a draft of your promotion. 
  7. To complete your promotion settings, tap Create Promotion.
Item Discount

Boost sales with discounted items.

Example: “Get 15% off Driscoll’s organic strawberries!”

To set up this promotion:

  1. Tap Item Discount.
  2. Select an item you want to offer a discount, and tap Next.
  3. Set a discount value either as a percentage off the item price or as a fixed amount, and tap Next.
  4. On the Set Conditions page, you can schedule the duration of your promotion. Enter the start date and end date (optional). If the end date is not specified, the promotion will run for 180 days. 
  5. Your customer criteria is pre-filled based on the previous selected objective. 
  6. On Redemption limit, you can restrict your customers from the number of times they can use the promotion.
  7. Tap Review promotion to display a draft of your promotion. 
  8. To complete your promotion settings, tap Create Promotion.
Free Item

Boost sales with free items.

Example: “Get a free apple for a $10 minimum order!”

To set up this promotion:

  1. Tap Free item discount.
  2. Select an item you want to give for free, and tap Next.
  3. On Minimum order, set the minimum order required to get the freebie, and tap Next.
  4. On the Set Conditions page, you can schedule the duration of your promotion. Enter the start date and end date (optional). If the end date is not specified, the promotion will run for 180 days. 
  5. Your customer criteria is pre-filled based on the previous selected objective. 
  6. On Redemption limit, you can restrict your customers from the number of times they can use the promotion.
  7. Tap Review promotion to display a draft of your promotion. 
  8. To complete your promotion settings, tap Create Promotion.
Bundle Offers

Boost sales by bundling more items into each order.

  • Buy an item in multiple quantities, and get a ($ or % off) discount.
    Example: 'Buy 2 dozen eggs, and get 10% off!' 
  • Buy an item in multiple quantities for a fixed ($) discounted price.
    Example: 'Buy 2 cheeseburgers for $5 (original $6.50)!”
  • Mix and match items for a ($ or % off) discounted price.
    Example: “Buy 2 cans of soda and 2 packets of snacks for $15 (original $18)!”

To set up this promotion:

  1. Tap Bundle offers.
  2. Pick the type of bundle you would like to offer i.e. same item or different items. 
  3. Select the item(s) in the category you want to apply a discount on, and tap Next. 
  4. Set a quantity required on each bundle to qualify for this offer, and enter the discount value to tie to this bundle. Example: “Buy 2 for 10% off”. 
  5. Include a bundle display name to attract customers. 
  6. On the Set Conditions page, you can schedule the duration of your promotion. Enter the start date and end date (optional). If the end date is not specified, the promotion will run for 180 days. 
  7. Your customer criteria is pre-filled based on the previous selected objective. 
  8. On Redemption limit, you can restrict your customers from the number of times they can use the promotion.
  9. Tap Review promotion to display a draft of your promotion. 
  10. To complete your promotion settings, tap Create Promotion.

FAQs

\n
Will the promotion apply to all my outlets? \n

Any promotion changes made on the GrabMerchant app associated with that outlet will only apply to that specific outlet. If you would like to make changes to all your outlets, it has to be done separately for each outlet. 

How long can a promotion last?

You can run a promotion for up to 180 days.

How am I charged for running a promotion?

When you run a promotion, you will be funding the discount value and charged a marketing fee for running the promotion on successful orders. For a limited time, this marketing fee for store promotions for your own campaigns will be free of charge for all merchants.

Why do I have to pay a marketing fee and what does it cover? 

The marketing fee is paid to Grab to run the promotion on our platform. You will only need to pay for successful orders driven by the promotion. Any cancelled, unallocated, or unused promos will not incur you a marketing fee. For a limited time only, this Marketing Fee will be waived for promotions created under “Create your own campaign”.

How do I optimise the potential of my store promotion?


We have improved our Marketing Manager product to allow for even easier campaign management experience.

Campaign and Promo creation requests based on following use cases can be directly made using the Grab Merchant app, and will no longer be supported by the request form. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to use Marketing Manager to set up promos in the sections above.
