As a Grab merchant-partner, navigating financial reports can feel overwhelming at first. To make it easier, we’ve compiled a list of commonly used terms and their definitions. This will help you better understand your financial reports and manage your business effectively.

All transactions in your reports are displayed in your settlement currency, including those involving foreign currency conversions.

Key financial reporting terms\n

Here are some important terms you’ll encounter:

AdjustmentAny adjustment made to your existing transactions or charges from your non-sales activities.
AmountThis refers to the amount of your non-order transactions for GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabKitchen, GrabFinance, and other Grab services.
Amount Owed

Refers to an amount that is payable to Grab. This amount is deducted from your upcoming transfers. Know more about the amount owed in the article What is balance.

Balance

This is your internal accounts payable that holds your money until it’s transferred to your bank account.

Bank Statement Code

Unique identifier of your store cashouts

Booking ID

This refers to the unique ID of the Grab driver’s delivery job.

Business Line

It is used to tag each transaction to a specific business line of Grab in the report. This will be used by merchants who are subscribed to different enterprise products of Grab to reconcile transactions based on different business lines. I.e.: GrabPay, GrabFood, GrabKitchen etc.

Cancellation by

This refers to the party who cancelled the order.

Category

Category of transaction type. For example, Payment, Adjustment, Advertisement, Refund.

Channel commission

For the commission charged on orders placed on the GrabFood app or website.

This is the commission charged by Grab (inclusive of tax) if the order is made via the Grab app, website, or Grab online shop.

Date

The exact date and time that a transaction was fulfilled, completed or cancelled.

Date Created (previously “Created On”)

The exact date and time that a transaction was created. At this stage, the transaction has not been fulfilled.

Delivery Charge (Grab Online Store)

Cost of delivery met by you for Grab Online Shop orders.

Delivery Charge (Merchant Delivery)

The delivery fee that's charged to your customers for your delivery service.

Delivery Commission

The commission charged by Grab (inclusive of tax) to deliver your customers' orders.

Delivery Fee Discount (Merchant-Funded)

Delivery fee-related discounts and promotions you've funded.

Description

This is the additional description/detail on your transaction.

Discount (Merchant- Funded)

Any item or order-related discounts and promotions you've funded.

Grab services (previously “Type”)

The Grab service (e.g. GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabPay, etc) that the merchant has signed up for.

GrabFood / GrabMart Other Commission

The amount payable in accordance with the agreement(s) between you and Grab or its affiliates, inclusive of tax.

GrabKitchen Commission

Service fees charged by Grab for GrabKitchen, subject to applicable tax.

GrabKitchen Other Commission

The amount payable in accordance with the agreement(s) between you and Grab or its affiliates, inclusive of tax.

Grab Transaction ID

Grab’s internal 32 alphanumeric characters transaction reference

Gross sales

The total sales, including taxes and any additional charges.

Linked transaction ID

This refers to the list of transaction IDs of all other transactions that are related or linked to a particular transaction.

For example: When an adjustment transaction is made for a particular payment transaction; it would have its original payment transaction ID listed under its Linked transaction ID column.

Long Order ID

This is the unique long order ID for your GrabFood/GrabMart transactions.

Marketing Success FeeThis fee is charged to you for running a promotion when you join Grab's Spotlight Campaign. This fee only applies when there is a completed promo order.
Merchant NameThis is your business entity name.
Merchant IDIn the report, this is a unique identifier for tagging transactions to a unique sub-merchant or a merchant.

Net Sales

The total sales after deducting merchant-funded discounts, delivery charges, and GrabPay refunds.

Net TotalYour gross amount minus all sale and non-sale related costs, like fees, taxes, refunds, adjustments and offers you've funded. This represents the amount to be transferred to your bank account. Also called “Net Cashable” in the report.

Offer Type

Refers to the type of offers (acquisition voucher, retention voucher or points booster), being funded by the merchant.

Order ChannelThis is the channel by which the GrabFood order was made, for example, in-app, or on the web.
Order TypeThe type of GrabFood / GrabMart / GrabKitchen order. For example, Integrated (Cash, Cashless)
Order ValueRefers to the value of items in the basket in a GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabKitchen, and other Grab services’ order.
Original Grab Transaction IDIn the report, this is the original transaction id for both Collect and Refund transactions when refund is triggered for the original transaction. Allows merchants to tie refund transactions with the original transaction

Payment Payments resulting from Grab products such as GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabPay, GrabFinance, GrabKitchen, and other Grab services.
Payment MethodThis is the method of payment used for the transaction.
PromotionsIn the report, this field shows the amount funded by the merchant
R
Reason for CancellationThis is the reason/description for the cancellation of your GrabFood or GrabMart order.
Refund Refund for an existing payment. This is only available for GrabPay right now.
Refund ReasonThis is the reason/description for the refund of your GrabPay transactions.
Remarks

In the report, this field will be used to append transaction-level information as and when required.

<Bank Statement Code> is currently the dynamic reference that shows up in a bank statement during account crediting.

\n

<Commission Description> will be used to identify the merchant campaigns that are commission deductible.

\n

<Type of promotion> will be used to specify the name of the promotion applied. I.e.: Points Booster.

Restaurant Packaging Charge

Fee charged by you for costs related to packaging. Paid by the customer, fully transferred to you.

Restaurant Service Charge

This is a service charge billed to your customers for dine-in orders.

S

S&R Loyalty Program Non-member Charge

An additional surcharge of 5% on orders, charged to your customers who are not S&R Loyalty Program members.

Settlement ID

Refers to the unique identifier generated once a settlement for a particular day or range period is completed.

Short Order ID

This refers to the short order ID for your GrabFood or GrabMart transactions. This is a recyclable ID.

Status

This refers to the status indicating whether a transaction has been successfully transferred or cancelled.

Store ID

This is your store ID

Store Name

This is your store name.

Subcategory

This indicates a subcategory linked to a transaction’s main category.

For example, a “Deduction-Eater Compensation” subcategory within an “Adjustment” main category indicates a deduction/charge based adjustment was done to compensate for an eater.

Tax on GrabFood / GrabMart Commission, Adjustments, Ads

The tax imposed on GrabFood or GrabMart commissions and deductions, adjustments or ads.

Tax on Total GrabKitchen Commission

The tax imposed on GrabKitchen commission.

Tax on Order

Refers to the tax charged to your customer for the items in their basket on their GrabFood or GrabMart order.

Total GrabFood/GrabMart Commission

Sum of all GrabFood and GrabMart-related commissions, inclusive of tax.

Total GrabKitchen Commission

Sum of all GrabKitchen-related commissions, inclusive of tax.

Transaction

Any money movement involved in your business with Grab, your customers, and your balance.

Transaction Amount

In the report, this refers to the gross transaction amount

Transaction Channel

Channel used to receive money. I.e.: static QR, integrated API, integrated POS, BillPay, others

Transaction Date

In the report, this is the date on which the transaction is done

Transaction Time

In the report, this is the time in which the transaction is done

Transaction ID

Refers to the transaction ID for transactions that are successfully transferred to your balance.

There is no Transaction ID for cancelled transactions.

Transfer

The funds transfer from your balance to your registered bank account.

Transfer Date

Refers to the transfer date and time.

Terminal ID

The ID of the terminal where the transaction was made

Total

This is the net total amount of the transaction.

Withholding Tax

Amount paid back to you for tax on the commission that you should keep as per local tax regulation. You have to report and pay this amount to the tax authority.

Grab also provides insights to help you track your business performance. Here are some terms you might find useful:

The average amount spent by your customers in a single transaction, calculated as net sales divided by the number of transactions.

Customer ratings

The average rating your  customers have given in the past 90 days. This differs from the overall rating shown in the Grab app, which takes into consideration the customers’ ratings from the very beginning.

Delivery fee discount

A type of offer that involves a discount on the delivery fee.

Driver waiting time

The average time that drivers wait at your store before collecting the customer's order.

Exclusions

Data that's excluded from Insights.

Feedback

A section in Insights for customer ratings and reviews, along with a breakdown of the top reasons they gave.

First-visit offers

A type of offer for first-time customers.

Fixed amount discount

A type of offer that involves a fixed dollar discount on the customer's order.

Free item

A type of offer that involves a free item included in the customer's order.

Grab services (previously “Type”)

The Grab service (e.g. GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabPay, etc) that the merchant has signed up for.

Gross sales

The total sales, including taxes and any additional charges.

Gross sales from offers

The total sales from transactions with 1 or more offers applied. This includes taxes and any additional charges.

Infrequent customer

Customers who placed an order with you after more than 90 days of not ordering from you.

Item gross sales

The total sales, including taxes and any additional charges, for a single item.

Merchant-related cancellation rate

% of orders that were cancelled due to unavailable stores or items. 

Mix and match order

An order from a single customer, comprising items across different stores / merchants.

Net sales

The total sales after deducting merchant-funded discounts, delivery charges, and GrabPay refunds. See How to calculate net sales

Net sales from offers

The total sales from transactions with 1 or more offers applied. This is after deducting merchant-funded discounts, delivery charges, and GrabPay refunds.

New customer

A customer who's placed their first order with you.

Number of transactions

The total number of transactions made by your customers using the selected Grab service(s).

Offer type

The type of offer (eg. delivery fee discount, fixed amount discount) that the merchant can give to their customers.

P

 

Peak hours

The period in which your store is busiest, based on when orders are placed or scheduled.

Percentage discount

An offer that involves a percentage discount on the item/order.

Points booster

An offer that increases the points customers can earn.

R

 

Repeat customers

A customer who's placed more than 1 order with you in the past 90 days.

Return offer

An offer for repeat customers.

S

 

Sales-to-spend rate

This is your net sales divided by spend.

Smart promotion (flash deal)

Also known as 'spot offer', 'timed offer' and 'flash deal'. This type of promotion is real-time, personalised and targeted to specific customers.

Spend

The total amount that you've spent on offers.

Suggested combo

A suggested bundle of items based on what your customers frequently place in their orders.

Suggested store

A list of stores that are deemed suitable for the suggested combos.

Total customers

This comprises new, repeat and infrequent customers.

Units sold

The quantity of each item that's sold.
