Option groups let your customers customise their orders, like choosing ice level, sugar level, or drink size. You can create and manage these groups easily using the GrabMerchant app or GrabMerchant Portal.

What are option groups?

Option groups are sets of choices linked to menu items, allowing customers to personalise their orders. For example, they can select drink sizes (small, medium, large) or add toppings.

On the GrabMerchant app, you can use preset option group templates to create option groups quickly in just a few steps. Choose from these five templates that are available:

For example, using the ‘size’ and ‘ice or no ice’ templates, your customers can customise their order by choosing the size of their drinks (e.g., small or medium) and whether to have ice added.

Create option groups

\n
Create option groups (using templates - only on the GrabMerchant app):\n
  1. On the GrabMerchant App homepage, go to Menu > Option Groups > Add option group.\n

  2. From the five templates (size, spiciness level, toppings, ice or no ice, and add-ons), select the customization type you want to set up.

  3. Set up the details (i.e. name of option group, pricing of each option, and customer selection criteria) of the option group and tap Create Option Group.

  4. Select the menu items to apply this customization option to and tap Done.

  5. You will see a notification that your option group has been created. You may tap Create Option Group to create another new option group.

Create option groups (manually):

  1. On the GrabMerchant app homepage, tap the Menu tile to view option groups.\n

  2. Go to the Option Groups tab and tap Create Option Group.

  3. Input the Option group name in sentence case (e.g., ‘Sugar levels’, not ‘sugar levels’) and tap Add an Option.

  4. Fill in the option name and price that customers have to pay for choosing this option (e.g., customers have to pay an additional 50 Baht for a large size) and tap Add.

  5. To create more options for your option group, tap Add an Option and repeat steps 3 and 4 above. After you have created all the options, you can reorder your options using the rearrange feature. Tap and hold the three lines icon beside the item and drag to the preferred position.

  6. Under Option details, indicate whether it is compulsory for customers to choose any of the options for their order.
    • Yes, it’s required.
      This means that customers must choose at least one option from the option group. You may set the selection for just one option or multiple options. For multiple options, please fill in the minimum and maximum number of options customers can select.
    • No, it’s optional.
      This means that it’s not compulsory for customers to choose an option from the option group.

      Also, indicate the number of options the customers can choose for this option group.
      • 1 option - This means that customers can only choose 1 option.
      • Multiple options - This means that customers can choose more than 1 option.

        Once you’re done, tap Review Option Group to review the details.

  7. To confirm, tap Create Option Group and you’ll now be able to link menu items to this new option group.

  2. Click on Add new option. Name your option group and click on Add new option to add more options for your customers to choose from this customization (e.g., ‘Large’ vs ‘Small’ drinks).

  3. Add the name and additional price required for this option and set the minimum or maximum quantity your customer can select.

  4. Click on Link Items to select the menu items to apply this customization option to.

  5. Select the applicable menu items and click on Link x Items.

  6. Review your option group details and click on Create Option Group.

  7. You will see a notification that your option group has been created. It will also be added to the list in your Option Groups tab.

Edit option groups:

  2. Edit the details of your option group and click on Save Changes.

Delete option groups:

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Option Group. To permanently delete the option group, tap Yes, Delete.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up page and click on Delete Option Group. Click on Delete and the option group will be permanently deleted. All linked items will no longer have an option group linked to them.

Rearrange options within an option group:

  2. Tap and hold the three lines icon beside the option you want to reorder and drag to the preferred position. To save the new order, tap Review Option Group.

  3. Review the new arrangement and tap Create Option Group to confirm.

  2. Click on the three dots icon, followed by Rearrange Options.

  3. Click on the four lines icon next to the option you want to rearrange and drag accordingly. To complete the reorder, click on Save Changes.

  6. Items linked to the option group will have a Remove Link option. To unlink the item from the option group, tap Remove Link.

  4. On the option group you want to link the item to, tap Link.

  5. You will see a notification that the changes have been saved. Items linked to the option group will have a Remove Link option. To unlink the item from the option group, tap Remove Link.
